That is

Very good, and

Inspiring. He

Nurtured people and

Cared for

Everyone. His love for God was

Neverending.

This person's name is Saint Vincent

de Paul

everyone considered him a legend in his time.

People loved him

And they befriended him. He

Understood people's problems and helped them. He

Loved God and everyone.

Greer is sharing her work about the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Christchurch.

Check out all the amazing things they do!

Core Values, by Denise

One of the Prayer and Witness Challenges last week was to create a Core Values table based on the core values of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Denise made a wonderful effort with her Core Values table. Check it out below.

It is great to see how you are applying these core values to your bubble during Lockdown Denise.
Keep up the awesome work!

Writing, by Phillip

Yesterday Phillip chose an image and a story starter to reflect on from Pobble. He asked me to share his reflection questions on our blog.

I hope Phillip continues the story because I am keen to find out what happens next!

Here is Phillip's task.

Acrostic Poem about St. Vincent de Paul, by Preston

The theme for this week’s prayer and witness challenge is the St Vincent de Paul Society. On the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch’s Facebook page the needs of the vulnerable in our community were highlighted, so learning a little about St Vincent de Paul and the work of the Society seems appropriate this week.

Here is an Acrostic Poem that Preston completed today. Keep up the great work Preston!

This week’s challenge - Each day ask if there is one item of non-perishable food that you can place in a box, ready to donate to Vinnies at school after lockdown has finished.

What has Niamh been up to during Lockdown?

 Hi readers,

Check out what Niamh has been up to this Lockdown.

RE Post by Kylie

Thank You SVDP Society!

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing very well and are staying safe. For RE today we learned more about St Vincent de Paul, but this time it's about the St. Vincent de Paul Society. For example the Young Vinnies. Young Vinnies are a big part of that society and everyone in it as well. For our activity today, what we had to do was make an email and send it to the St Vincent de Paul Society here in Christchurch and thank them for everything they do for a lot of people and write down at least one thing that we could do to help them out for example: donating, praying, volunteering, etc. But before that, we had to also fill in some boxes and put pictures in them of what the Svdp society does, so if it says the Young Vinnies visit rest homes then you would put a picture of that

Something I enjoyed was getting to write the email to them cause I really do appreciate everything that they do for everyone.

Here is the email that I sent:

If you would like to you can also email them and thank them as well, here is their email admin@svdpchch.co.nz (this is the Christchurch one).

Hope you enjoyed it and stay safe!

Writing by Greer

This piece of writing was inspired by a photo of a rugby team taken in 1942. I hope you enjoy it. Please leave your feedback in the comments section.

She sits quietly scanning over the picture again and again and again searching for answers.

It was April 2nd, 1942.

The Britain team had just won their second game in the rugby nationals.

Tears of joy streamed down some men's faces, others smiling with glee.

The next few days were spent celebrating and catching up with friends and family. Until 3 days later the happy tears turned into grief and disbelief.

James Triumph was found dead in the woods behind his house, people say he slipped and hit his head on a rock, but I, Casey Robin believe this was no accident and this was a murder.

It has now been 20 years since James' death and things have never been the same.

I want to uncover the case of James Triumph and serve justice to his family and friends so I took the only evidence I could get my hands on.

This was taken the morning before James died, the day they had a last get-together.

Home Learning: Writing by Mark T & Stan

We're back to One Piece!

This time, Stan and I wrote a poster about the death of Going Merry, the ship of the Straw Hats.

Warning: it's a tearjerker.

Happy Birthday Comic by Denise

Hey everyone,

Today I am posting about a little comic I made and wrote retelling about the story I chose to read for reading. Making a comic was one of the activities we had to do. We had to include the important events in the story and I did try to add as many of the important events in the story as I could.

I hope you enjoy it.

I also used this site called Pixton, which was very fun but quite confusing to use, but it's only at first and once you get used to it, it is very fun to use. There were many choices to choose from to make a comic about the book and I really wanted to use something new so I chose Pixton. (You should try it too!)

Have a great day :)

Newspaper Article by Manuk

Kia Ora,

I hope everyone is doing good thru this lockdown. For writing, we had the task to learn about different types of articles like newspaper articles or tv news articles, or magazine articles. I chose to do a newspaper article. I made it about our lockdown right now.

We had to learn the different components of an article. There are 4 fetaures for an article.

1 Headline - Something that will hook in the reader to read more.

2 Byline to answer the question.

3 Captions sentences under pictures to explain.

4 Pictures or images to explain more to the reader.

I have really enjoyed making my newspaper article.

Writing Article, by Preston

Hey readers,

For writing, we had to make an article about a famous person. I picked Jacinda Arden (or as some people like to call her Auntie Cindy). I picked Jacinda because she is my favourite Prime Minister.

Read my article to find out more about Jacinda and some facts about her and her family.

Here is my article:

Who would you pick that is famous?

Stay safe and be kind to one another.

What I did in Lockdown by Preston

Hey Readers,

On Wednesday Jacinda Arden put the whole of New Zealand into Lockdown, it was a snap lock down which means we were told 6 hours before it happened. Jacinda announced this Lockdown at 6.00 PM and Level 4 started at midnight.

During Lockdown I have been on multiple bike rides around our area. I have also played volleyball with my family. My mum put up a badminton net so my family can play badminton. We have taken our dog Moe for a lot of walks. My Mum and Ella take Moe and I either roller blade or go on my scooter beside them.

Jacinda will announce at 3 o'clock today ( Friday 20th ) if the Lockdowns are being extended.

What have you all been doing during this Lock Down?

Take care and stay safe.

Orana Park Trip

Today Room 5 & 6 enjoyed a trip to Orana Wildlife Park.

Here is an outline of our Zoo School programme: Students will discover that animals can be grouped in many ways...by characteristics, diet, where they live, what their feet look like and even how rare they are. They will learn about their behavioural, structural and physiological adaptations. Students will learn how changing habitats are causing problems for animals who are unable to adapt quickly enough to survive.

We loved seeing a huge variety of animals and finding out some cool facts about them. Have a browse of our slideshow below with a few photos from our day out.

Insect Symmetry, by Mark R

For Maths we learned about symmetry and we had a task to find a bug or insect that was symmetrical and we had to draw it.

I drew a scorpion. I first drew a line in the middle, and then I drew half of a scorpion and when I was done I started designing the insides of it. After that I folded the paper in half on where the line was drawn on, then I went to the window and started tracing. To trace you either need light shining on the paper, or just go on a window where the sun is out. Then when you've done tracing all of it, unfold it back to normal then you're done.

I found it really easy to come up with designs to put in the scorpion.

I found it really hard to make it as symmetrical as possible, mine's not perfect but it's decent.

Here's my work :
